Will you Give this Tuesday?
Tuesday, 27 November 2018 is not just another Tuesday, it’s #GivingTuesday. This is a global day of giving with the power of social media propelling it to the eyes and minds of the public. GivingTuesday highlights charities and those in need, when our minds are often focused on our own impending Christmas holidays and presents.
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 in response to the consumerism that peaks around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Here in New Zealand you may not think the impact of those holidays has reached us, but if you were paying attention to retailers over the weekend you would have seen that it has. Most major retailers had Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales this weekend in an attempt to pick up trade.
Have you been thinking about donating to a charity or lending a hand to an organisation or individual in need? We would be so grateful if you chose Parkinson’s New Zealand to support this GivingTuesday. There are many ways you can help us continue the work we do for people with Parkinson’s.
We accept donations big and small all year round, click here if you would like to donate today. If you have an event or fundraiser coming up, we would love to be your chosen charity. We are signed up with Givealittle so you can easily raise funds for us there. We have a Get Going for Parkinson’s programme where individual and groups participate or create events to raise funds for Parkinson’s New Zealand. Click here for more information on how you can Get Going for Parkinson’s.
Want to give your time instead of money? Consider joining your local Action Group. Our voluntary Action Groups engage with local communities through events and community outreach supported by a national office in Wellington. It could be something as simple as making cups of tea at a support meeting or as big as running a local event. You can be as involved as you would like, find your areas details here.
Regardless of what you give this Tuesday we would love to hear your #MyGivingStory. Make sure you tag us in any #GivingTuesday social media posts and us our #ParkinsonsNZ so we can connect with you. Thank you for giving this Tuesday.
