Providing professional support and services for people with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s in Canterbury.

The Society provides the following services:

Home Visit Services

  • Home visit to people who are newly diagnosed with MS or Parkinson's by a Resource Nurse
  • Free follow-up home visits as requested


  • Support and information for members, their family, friends, caregivers, health professionals, employers and work colleagues
  • Up-to-date, evidence based information on MS and Parkinson’s
  • Referrals to health professionals for assessment and assistance with daily living
  • Counselling and/or referrals to appropriate counselling agencies
  • Assessment for Total Mobility taxi vouchers


  • Physiotherapist available to instruct on exercises designed specifically for individuals with MS and Parkinson’s
  • Social Activity Programme for an opportunity to meet others
  • Gym Facility Programme for individual and group exercises and assessment


  • Educational Workshops on various aspects of MS or Parkinson’s
  • Quarterly Newsletter posted to members and available on-line
  • Resource Library with informative books, videos, pamphlets and articles available on a wide range of topics
