Position:         Community Engagement Advisor (Part Time 0.75 FTE)

Location: Wellington is preferred but candidates from other areas within the region will be equally considered. The Southern Region covers the South Island and the west coast of the North Island from Wellington to Taranaki.

The Community Engagement Advisor will be responsible for developing networks and finding opportunities to enhance the presence and performance of Parkinsons New Zealand in their region.  We are looking for someone with fantastic networking and relationship building skills to develop strong relationships with our supporters and volunteers, and to work closely with and provide support to our local Action Groups (volunteer committees) and Community Educators so that they can meet their responsibilities. 

Encouraging and assisting with fundraising within the region will be important, especially coordinating local fund raising efforts and local Action Group events.  All of which needs to be done in conjunction with the work of the fundraising team at National Office.   

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral
  • The ability to network & build professional relationships
  • Experience at working with volunteers & community groups 
  • Confident IT user, including MS Office, email, and video conferencing
  • Experience in organising events and group activities
  • Excellent administration and organisation skills
  • Experience in a service delivery organisation 
  • Previous experience in fundraising an advantage 

Our ideal candidate will be positive, energetic, and able to work well unsupervised.

The position reports directly to the Operations Manager who is based at our Wellington National Office.  This role will require travel from time to time.

Position:  Community Educator

Location: Whakatane

The Parkinson’s New Zealand Charitable Trust is looking for an innovative and motivated Parkinson’s Community Educator. This is an opportunity for you to work with people with Parkinson’s and their families in the Whakatane area.

It is essential that you have good communication skills and enthusiasm for working with individuals and groups. You must be able to work independently, network and liaise with clients, carers and other health professionals.  

Parkinson’s New Zealand Charitable Trust provides a friendly working environment, coupled with professional development and support systems. 

This role requires:

  • A Registered Health Professional with current practising certificate preferably with three years post registration experience. 
  • Working 10 hours per week.
  • A reliable car and full driver’s license is essential.
